A parolee who launched a brick at the windscreen of a moving car during a wild argument with a man in Miles has been chastised by the magistrate for continuing to break the law.

Barbara Ann Howlett was on parole for similar offending when she began to fight with a man who had gone to her Miles home on May 3.

Police prosecutor Chris Hutchins told Chinchilla Magistrates Court that when the argument turned violent, the victim escaped through the backyard and tried to drive away.

At that point, Howlett ran in front of the moving car and hurled a brick at the windscreen.

Defence lawyer Michael Corbin said his client became angered after hearing about “concerning” things the man was doing, saying they were each hurling threats at the other.

“He left and she unwisely threw the brick at the windscreen and she acknowledges she will have to pay,” Mr Corbin said.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan condemned the 37-year-old for continuing to commit offences.

“You’re on a suspended sentence and you’re still acting this way.”

Howlett, who spent 65 days in custody following her arrest and appeared in court by videolink, pleaded guilty to wilful damage.

Ms O'Callaghan told the court she took into account the pre-sentence custody period when formulating the sentence.

Howlett was convicted and not further punished.
