An afternoon binge drinking session for a Glenmorgan woman led to her crashing her Holden Commodore through a fence, and colliding with a phone building.

Anita Joy Grose had been spotted driving around Glenmorgan on the evening of April 28, Dalby Magistrates Court heard.

Police prosecutor Chris Hutchins said the 27-year-old attempted a right hand turn at an intersection on Sybil Street and Godfrey Street while speeding.

The court heard Grose then travelled onto the wrong side of the road, mounted the footpath and crashed through a fence, before she collided with a Telstra communications exchange building.

Sergeant Hutchins said residents flooded the street and called police, prompting Grose to flee the scene on foot.

The court heard she was eventually located by police, and returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.139.

Police also discovered her vehicle was unregistered, and that her licence had been disqualified.

Defence solicitor Jessica Hine said the aspiring hairdresser was currently pregnant with her fifth child, and had taken steps to address her alcohol use.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan said it was fortunate the Glenmorgan woman didn’t seriously injure herself or anyone else.

Grose pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving without due care and attention, driving disqualified and unregistered, as well as failing to comply with duties involved in a crash.

She was sentenced to nine months’ probation, and was disqualified from driving for 2.5 years.
