A Dalby man who gave his taxi driver two joints after being given a lift home has told a court that he was “pretty intoxicated” at the time.

Aaron Christopher Whitchurch was picked up by a taxi from Dalby Hospital about 3am on May 11, when he made the dodgy deal.

Police prosecutor Derek Brady said once the 44-year-old arrived at home, he removed two “rolled cigarettes” filled with marijuana, and offered them to his driver.

The court heard Whitchurch placed them in the taxi’s centre console, before the driver left.

Police flagged the taxi driver a short time later, where they informed the officers about what transpired with Whitchurch.

Sergeant Brady said police seized the drugs which weighed less than a gram, and interviewed the 44-year-old.

The Dalby man said the drugs were his, and made admissions to using it to treat “pre-existing injuries”.

Representing himself in Dalby Magistrates Court, Whitchurch said he was “pretty intoxicated” and in a “lot of pain” at the time.

He pleaded guilty to supplying and possessing dangerous drugs, and was fined $700.
