Myall Creek floods: "Look out Dalby"

The person filming the moment can be heard commenting on the pig’s swimming ability.

The man can be seen picking up the pig, which illicit several squeals from the animal, but it seems quite content to be out of the water.

It’s not clear whether the pig is wild or a pet.

Four homes were inundated by floodwaters across Dalby and many residents sought refuge at evacuation centres, as Myall Creek reached major flood levels in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Western Downs Mayor Paul McVeigh said he was looking ahead with a plan to ensure there was less impact in future floods.

“After the last flood we raised with the State Government the opportunity in raising some of these houses that are impacted in low-lying areas, it’s certainly something after this flood that we’ll be following through with,” he said.

Two evacuation centres were prepared last night to accommodate those that needed to evacuate, however only one of the locations had to be used.

Social media went wild for the cute rescue video.

“Little darling grunting like that. He must have been so happy to be rescued,” Renau Austin wrote.

“Good on you mate who knows how long he been swimming before he got tired and drown poor thing,” said Vannah Rose.

Others saw a more humorous side.

“I don’t know if rescued is the right word, he picked it up and headed straight for the BBQ,” Aaron Painter said.

Western Downs Regional Council has been contacted to determine if the pig was handed in, and if other animals have been rescued.
