It’s been confirmed the driver of a car that smashed into trees on a rural road in the Western Downs has died, with a forensic crash unit now investigating the confronting incident. All the latest details:

Police have confirmed the driver of a car that smashed into trees on a rural road west of Chinchilla has died.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Greenswamp Rd, Greenswamp at 10.10am Friday after reports a ute had crashed into trees.

The driver tragically died at the scene, with police confirming the news this afternoon.

The crash occurred southwest of Chinchilla and close to the intersection of Greenswamp Rd and Goombi-Fairymeadow Rd.

Police say the Forensic Crash Unit will investigate the incident.

Paramedics attended the scene, but did not transport anyone from the crash.
