Possession detected

A SEARCH warrant on Gregory John Hall’s house revealed he was in possession of several items related to drug use. On October 9, police discovered two grams of marijuana, five marijuana plants, the largest of which measuring 42cm in height, and a water pipe. Hall told police that he “cared for” the marijuana plants, and he took marijuana to help with his epilepsy. Hall pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils. Magistrate Tracy Mossop fined Hall $1000. A conviction was recorded.

‘A thing for weed’

NICOLE Jane Griffin told Magistrate Tracy Mossop she “had a bit of a thing for weed” while in court on a drug-driving charge. The court heard on August 24, Griffin was intercepted on the Warrego Highway and subject to a mandatory drug test, where she tested positive for marijuana use. Griffin pleaded guilty to one count of driving with a relevant drug in her system. She was fined $200 and disqualified for one month. A conviction was recorded.

Driver caught out

AFTER receiving calls about a reckless driver swerving around Drayton St, Dalby, police identified Brian James Kime, who had been caught drink-driving. Prosecutor Sergeant Derek Brady told the court Kime was intercepted on November 15, and told police he consumed five beers before driving, and blew a BAC reading of 0.135. Kime told the court he had an “error of judgment”, and said he didn’t feel drunk when he got behind the wheel. Magistrate Tracy Mossop fined Kime $550 and disqualified him for four months. No conviction was recorded.

‘Lack of judgment’

GLEN Peter Grbin was driving under the influence of drugs when, on September 29, he was intercepted on Surat-Development Rd. Grbin tested positive to having marijuana in his system. He told the court it was a “lack of judgment” on his part. Grbin was fined $200 and disqualified for one month.

Sign of the times

A SEARCH warrant on Jayson Paul Harding’s home revealed a bizarre collectable. Police discovered a Western Downs Regional Council street sign in his home, which Harding, 45, told police he had found in some bush area. Harding pleaded guilty and was and fined $350. A conviction was recorded.
