Western Downs puts on long list of Christmas events for 2023 | LIST

From Dalby to Chinchilla, Tara and Miles the entire region is spoilt for choice this festive season with a huge list of Christmas events already pencilled on the calendar. Check out our full list of epic events to enjoy this silly season.

The festive season is upon us and there have already been many magical events organised across the entire Western Downs ahead of the Christmas holidays.

From Christmas carols, to Santa visits and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy, there is no shortage of celebrations coming up.

Dalby

Outdoor Christmas movie

The Dalby Leagues Club is putting on a festive outdoor movie night this weekend to kick off the Christmas spirit.

Families are invited to attend the leaguesy at Orpen St where they will play a screening of the movie Elf from 6.30pm on Saturday November 25.

Snacks such as popcorn and slushies will be available for a gold coin donation with all proceeds going to the Dalby Devils Junior Rugby League Club.

Light up event

On December 1 from 5pm residents are invited to visit the newly launched Mary’s Place to watch the town tree light up the sky.

The event will include activities for kids, live entertainment, a visit from Santa, the tree lighting, an outdoor moving screening of the movie Elf and food and drinks available for purchase.

Teddy Bear Afternoon Tea and Carols

Residents from the region have been invited to attend the ‘Teddy Bear Afternoon Tea and Carols’ hosted by Lake Broadwater Recreation Reserve.

The magical event will include live music, face painting, raffles, a Giving Tree and games with guests invited to bring their favourite teddy bear.

People can find the event on December 3 starting at 3.30pm at Lake Broadwater.

Community Christmas Carols and Markets

Dalby’s Anglican church will host the annual community Christmas Carols this year, an event for the whole family to enjoy.

The carols will take place at the Dalby Showgrounds on December 9 kicking off from 3pm.

The event is free to attend and will include food, crafts, music, a giving tree and kids activities.

Chinchilla

Carols by Candlelight

In just a couple of quick days Chinchilla Big Band will host Carols by Candlelight at the Chinchilla Museum.

The event, which begins at 6pm, November 23, requires a gold coin donation to enter and will include free train rides, raffles, barbecue dinner and drinks available for purchase. Prizes will be rewarded to those in a best Christmas outfit.

Community celebration 

Chinchilla’s Community Christmas Celebration will take place at the Botanic Parkland on December 9 from 4pm.

The event which is hosted by Western Downs Regional Council, Chinchilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Lions Club will feature Mayoral Carols, food and market stalls, children’s rides and entertainment.

Residents won’t want to miss the lighting of the Lions Club Christmas lights display.

Kogan

Christmas @ Kogan

The Salvos Outback Connection will present a family fun, Christmas at Kogan event on November 25.

The festivities will kick off at 5pm at Kogan Memorial Hall which is located at High St off the Condamine Highway.

Free barbecue foods will be available to enjoy along with Christmas carols presented by the Salvation Army Brass Band and other live artists.

Miles

Christmas Carnival 

Hosted by the Miles and District Chamber of Commerce along with the Miles Senior Rugby League club will come the massive Christmas Carnival.

The event which will take place December 2 from 4pm at the Centenary Oval will include market stalls, a giant stocking draw, ham wheel draws, a bar and barbecue, children’s activities, face painting, laser skirmish, an emergency services display and musical entertainment.

Santa is scheduled to appear at 6.30pm for photos.

Wandoan

Christmas Carnival 

The Wandoan Christmas Carnival is a street party that will take place December 8 from 6pm at Wandoan Main Street.

Condamine

Christmas tree event

The Condamine Christmas tree event is on December 10 from 4pm at the Condamine Sports Ground.

It will include the screening of ‘Elliot the Littlest Reindeer’ and have face painting available.

Tara

Community Christmas Celebration 

The Tara Community Christmas Celebration will take place on December 16 from 5pm at Jack Chappell Oval.

Residents are invited to enjoy the free entertainment which includes kid’s activities such as laser skirmish, live reindeer, face painting, a visit from Santa, market stalls, food and drinks for purchase and more.

Meandarra

Community Christmas Party

Meandarra’s Community Christmas Party will be hosted on December 8 from 6pm at Dillon Park.

The event will include ham raffles, a jumping castle, face painting, an outdoor movie, dinner and a bar plus a visit from Santa.

Organisers have asked that residents RSVP to the event by contacting emboandstace@gmail.com or 0429332119 by November 30.
