Western Downs Christmas events this holiday season

From holiday-themed parties and competitions to market stalls and festive rides, Western Downs residents are spoiled for choice this Christmas. See the events list.

The Western Downs has plenty planned this holiday season, from Christmas-themed parties, competitions and carnivals that will be sure to keep the whole family entertained.

Community Christmas Carols - Dalby

The community Christmas Carols in Dalby is hosted by a range of churches and will be held at Dalby Showgrounds on December 9.

The free event will kick off at 6.30pm and will feature a range of activities for kids, BBQ foods and a reverse Santa.

Christmas Carnival - Cecil Plains

Lions International will host a Christmas Carnival on December 3 at the recreation grounds in Cecil Plains.

Entertainment will be provided by singer Cathy Drummond and there will be fun for children with dodgem cars, a jumping castle, a giant swing.

A bar, food and market stalls will make sure adults are also taken care of.

Santa is set to arrive at 7pm, with fireworks kicking off at 9pm.

Gates open at 4pm, with show rides $1.

Proceeds will be shared between Little Country Club, Tennis Club, Bongeen Church of Christ, The Bush Disciples and Lions Club of Cecil Plains.

Christmas in the Bush - Millmerran

Residents can rally for an evening of Christmas fun in Millmerran on December 2.

Christmas in the Bush Millmerran Commerce and Progress Inc in combination with Millmerran Community Support Service will host a family event that includes food and drinks, Christmas sing-alongs and more.

Santa is expected to arrive at 6:30pm for the Christmas tree lighting.

The family fun event will kick off at 5:30pm in Domville Place on Campbell Street.

Christmas Where the Gumtrees Grow - All of Western Downs

The Christmas Where the Gumtrees Grow competition has returned for its fourth year.

The initiative encourages residents to show their holiday spirit with a country twist.

Western Downs Regional Council encourages residents to decorate their property entrance (driveway, fences etc) with a festive flair and go into the running to win a range of prizes.

First place will receive a $500 supermarket voucher, second place a $300 supermarket voucher and third a $200 local butcher voucher.

Fourth place will receive a delicious Christmas ham.

Entrants can submit their photo with name, address, contact details and a summary of the display to events@wdrc.qld.gov.au.

Submissions close Monday, December 12 at 5pm.

Christmas Celebration - Chinchilla

Chinchilla Botanic Parkland residents can gather for an evening of Christmas fun on December 10.

The event, set to kick off at 4pm, will give the whole family an opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs Claus, sing Christmas carols, visit market stalls, play on rides and be part of the Lions light show official opening.

The free event is hosted by the Chinchilla Community Commerce and Industry with WDRC.
