Campers looking to experience the beauty of the Western Downs while avoiding dirt, mosquitoes and wild weather are now in luck after the opening of the region’s first luxury glamping experience.
The brainchild of beef producers Nick and Kate Boshammer, Riverbank Glamping is situated along the banks of the Condamine River and features a luxury safari-style tent complete with a kingsize bed, airconditioner, kitchen, ensuite, coffee machine, movie projector, open fireplace and an outdoor bathtub.
Located just outside Chinchilla, the weather resistant and solar powered tent accommodates just two adults ensuring total privacy for its guests.
“We wanted to create a space for locals to experience luxury without having to travel far, as well as offer those from the city first class comfort in a truly unique and exclusive environment,” Ms Boshammer said in a press release.
“Riverbank Glamping is not a campground or caravan park, there is only one tent, meaning guests won’t encounter anyone else during their stay.
“That is important to us, we want guests to feel completely secluded from the outside world.
“We positioned the tent to create a sense of seclusion and privacy, nestled between a screen of Queensland river gums.”
No stranger to glamping, Ms Boshammer won gold at the NSW Tourism Awards for Faraway Domes, a luxury retreat she opened with her parents in 2018.
“Having previously been through the planning and construction phase of establishing a glamping business has definitely made things easier the second time around,” she said.
“For people who love the outdoors and enjoy a touch of bush luxury, a stay at Riverbank Glamping is a must.”
Queensland Country Tourism chief executive Peter Homan said in a press release it was great to see new tourist hot spots in the Western Downs.
“We are pleased to support Nick and Kate, who have received the Building Bush Tourism Grant to launch Riverbank Glamping, overlooking the picturesque Condamine River, a fantastic addition for both the community and our tourism industry,” he said.
“Their unique glamping experience is set to drive overnight visitor expenditure, supporting both economic and enriching the region with new opportunities for local businesses and job creation. I extend my congratulations to Riverbank Glamping on bringing this exceptional experience to life.”
Western Downs mayor Andrew Smith said he was happy to see another “unique local initiative” open to offer visitors from across Australia and the world a chance to experience something magical.
“There is so much to enjoy in the Western Downs and I’m confident that visitors to Riverbank Glamping will think so too,” he said.
