DALBY Squash Centre is going to step back in time, dust off the old racquets and raise money for one of its own on Saturday night.
The centre is holding a 1980s themed squash night, in a bid to raise money for Candice Hedge, a former Dalby girl who was a victim in a recent terrorist attack in London.
All the money that is raised from Saturday's event will go towards assisting Miss Hedge with her medical expenses.
There will be a range of activities on offer during the evening including squash, and organisers are encouraging anyone interested to attend.
Grandfather of Miss Hedge, Brian Hedge, said the night was aimed at being light-hearted and enjoyable for all.
"What we are doing is having a barbecue and playing squash,” Mr Hedge said.
Everyone is encouraged to wear their old 1980s gear or just dress in 80s squash gear and we are going to use some of the old squash racquets.”
1980s squash uniforms for men will include a head-band and shorts, however the ladies will look far more fashionable.
"The ladies used to wear pretty old fashioned clothes for squash back in those days, and looked pretty smart,” Mr Hedge said.
During the evening, there will be food and drinks provided, as well a multi-draw raffle.
The games of squash are not designed to be competitive, but are promoting the fun of the sport.
"We will play round-robin events with both singles and doubles,” Mr Hedge said.
"We are welcoming all to attend.
"It is going to be heaps of fun.”
Miss Hedge has recently been released from hospital after the attack and according to her grandfather she is on the right track to making a full recovery.
The evening will be held at the Dalby Squash Centre on the corner of Stuart St and Groom Ln.
Beginning at 6pm, admission will cost $20.
