THE end of their first year for some, and the conclusion of their time at the school for others, Bell State School's awards night on Thursday, December 6, showcased the hard work of all their students.

Awards were handed out for every area of school life including academia, arts, sports, leadership and conducting one's self in the Bell way.

Students from Years 7 to 10 received awards for excellence in each of their classroom subjects: English, History and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Science, Japanese, and more.

Principal Jason Edmonstone said that last year's results had been the best he had seen and the school had improved on those in 2018.

"I can safely say that because of (our) NAPLAN results, that we are one of the top performing schools in the region,” Mr Edmonstone said.

"The hard work of our staff to implement change to make sure we are doing the right work in the classrooms has been absolutely fantastic and it's paying off.”

For the six Year 10 students, the night marked the end of their time at Bell State School.

Mr Edmondstone wish the students all the best for their new schools as they complete Years 11 and 12.

"For a P-10 school, the excitement of finishing year 10 is coupled with the nervousness of going to a new school next year,” Mr Edmonstone said.

"I'm sure that the education you have received here at Bell will prepare you for any challenges ahead and you will be successful in any path that you take.”
