Customers of a major bank have been waiting days to receive late money transfers into their accounts, making it tough for many over the festive period.

ING this morning acknowledged on social media that customers were waiting on payments to enter their accounts.

Brisbane’s Tracy Kennedy said she had been waiting two days for a transfer and the bank’s handling of the situation had been disappointing.

“Over the course of the day yesterday between 10am and 5pm I made three phone calls to ING,” Ms Kennedy said.

“I got three different responses.”

The first response was delays because of the public holidays, the second was because of a data issue and the third was a problem processing payments.

“Its absolutely terrible timing, I can appreciate from ING they are probably running on skeleton staff,” she said.

“I think there would people would be understanding if they were upfront.

“It’s the lack of information and getting in front of it. It’s a long weekend so the earliest now you envision it could be rectified is Tuesday next week.”

ING said “all incoming payments sent to us have been processed at our end”.

“However, it appears there is a glitch in the payment chain which means some payments have not been sent from other institutions,” it continued.

“We are continuing to investigate this with other parties in the payment chain and will provide updates here as soon as they become available.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.”
