“As a result of coronavirus we are facing economic impacts that could last years, and I am standing by my commitment to lead every single resident through this crisis and chairing the budget committee is part of that,’’ he said.

Unveiling his new civic cabinet, Cr Schrinner said the new executive team was 50 per cent women.

The new team is: Deputy Mayor Krista Adams; finance, administration and small business chair Adam Allan; infrastructure chair David McLachlan; environment, parks and sustainability chair Fiona Cunningham; city standards, community health and safety chair Kim Marx; community, arts and night time chair Vicki Howard and public and active transport chair Ryan Murphy.

Cr Schrinner yesterday paid tribute to city council newcomers Greg Adermann (Pullenvale) and Sarah Hutton (Jamboree), saying both would contribute significantly to the LNP team.

Cr Schrinner was elected lord mayor in his own right for the first time at the March 28 local government poll, easily fending off the Labor aspirant, former television reporter Patrick Condren.

The new Lord Mayor has put into place a raft of coronavirus measures to help the city through this unprecedented crisis.

They include reductions in garbage services and rates payment concessions for some.
