Special congratulations to Maranoa’s full list of 2021 Olympic champions

A special congratulations has been issued to Maranoa’s Olympic champions who made their town, state, and country proud during the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. Here’s our pride from the world’s most revered and iconic sporting event:

Sporting legends from every corner of the Maranoa and South West Queensland made their hometowns and wider country proud at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.

A standout from the games was champion Roma and Mitchell swimmer Madison Wilson, who took home a bronze medal during for a ferocious 4x200m freestyle relay.

The world leading equestrian rider Kevin McNab won a silver medal during the team equestrian event, leaving his Chinchilla family and the wider community beaming with pride.

“It’s an absolute honour and a dream come true. What a horse and what a team,” McNab told the Chinchilla News. 

A game highlight was South Burnett’s beach volleyball star Taliqua Clancy who came away with an epic win for the history books after winning silver.

Warwick’s rowing star Harriet Hudson along with her team, finished in third place behind China and Poland bringing home an impressive bronze medal for the quad sculls final.

Federal Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said the legendary efforts of homegrown talent at the 2021 Olympics has inspired the region’s next generation of sporting heroes.

“(Four) of you are bringing home medals but you have all inspired us,” he said.

“It was a pleasure to follow your events over the past two weeks, to cheer you on and celebrate your achievements.

“To children right across Maranoa, know that training and hard work pay off and you too could one day be competing against the very best in the world.

“Congratulations again - you’re all champions of Maranoa and I am looking forward to the Paralympics starting in a fortnight’s time.”

Other Maranoa athletes who displayed great skill while competing were; Glenmorgan’s Demi Hayes during the Rugby Sevens, Stanthorpe’s rugby guns Charlotte Caslick and Lew Holland, Allora’s Matt Denny for discus, and Longreach’s 10,000m runner Patrick Tiernan.
