When police hunted down a Chinchilla worker who failed to show up to court, officers got more than bargained for when a strong smell emanated from the man.

A Chinchilla police spokesman said officers attended the accommodation village on Zeller Street on Sunday, September 26, and were greeted with the smell of marijuana.

Police searched the man’s room and located a small amount of weed which resulted in the 25-year-old being placed in a drug diversion program.

Earlier in the month officers located a stash of MDMA and marijuana at the same camp.

On Thursday, September 26, police stormed a Nevell Street home, search warrant in hand.

As a result of the search an 18-year-old Chinchilla man was charged with possessing a drug utensil after officers found a pipe.

The teenager will face Chinchilla Magistrates Court at a later date.
