The Queensland Police Service’s mission to crackdown on dangerous drugs led to multiple residents convicted at the Chinchilla Magistrates Court on September 23.

The time of a ‘computer room’ has long gone although one Chinchilla man found a use for his, but unfortunately for him it was an illegal one.

Officers raided David Roy Widdon’s Chinchilla home on August 2 and found a hydroponic marijuana tent in his computer room.

Police prosecutor Chris Hutchins said there were five plants ranging from 5cm to 10cm.

The 65-year-old told his duty lawyer he’d been growing the drug for pain relief as he couldn’t afford the legal CBD alternative.

Widdon pleaded guilty to possessing drug related property, drug possession, drug production, and was fined $700.

Just off the Warrego Highway, Chinchilla police stormed a Wychie home on August 5.

Sergeant Hutchins said although Jacob Andrew Bonnell wasn’t home at the time of the search, he later took full accountability for three bongs, weed, and a grinder.

Sergeant Hutchins said a fine was suitable punishment but noted if Bonnell continued to commit drug offences he’d be facing parole.

Bonnell told magistrate Kerri O’Callaghan he’d stopped smoking weed months before the raid and had been taking steps to improve his life, such as obtaining full-time employment.

Bonnell pleaded guilty to drug and utensil possession and was fined $400.

Another raid led to Breanna Jessie Storm Jones pleading guilty to drug and utensil possession.

Sergeant Chris Hutchins said Jones was on probation for drug offences when officers uncovered marijuana and a bong in her room on August 5.

The court heard the 23-year-old woman had three pages of criminal history and was struggling with mental health and family issues at the time of her offending.

Jones was fined $450.
