A Western Downs man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly driving his car at two people during a dispute.

Police have charged 32-year-old Josh Warwick in relation to an alleged incident at Weranga, that took place on Saturday, February 4.

Police will allege the offence occurred at a Rocky Crescent address just before 2am with the Goranba man allegedly injuring the two people before fleeing the scene.

Police further allege that on February 16 after spotting the man on the side of Binnie St in Tara, Mr Warwick lunged at an officer while holding a small bladed weapon before running away.

Mr Warwick was located and arrested on February 18 where he was taken to Toowoomba watch-house and charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of failing to remain at the incident and further charges of serious assault of a police officer while armed.

He appeared by video link at Dalby Magistrates Court on Monday, February 20 and did not apply for bail.

He is expected to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on April 4.

The charges come after police asked the community for information on the man’s whereabouts last week and urged residents not to approach him.
