LONGSTANDING Wandoan Local Ambulance Committee president Freida Hoffman has announced she will be resigning her position.
Freida has had an extraordinary association with the ambulance, being elected president of the Wandoan Women's Auxiliary in 1979. The auxiliary worked hard to consistently raise large sums of money to establish a centre in Wandoan.
In 1983, the auxiliary was disbanded with three women - Freida, Vena Clarris and Beryl Hoffman - elected to the QATB benefit committee.
Then, a decision was made early in the 1990s for Wandoan to have its own committee.
Freida was elected secretary, and in 1994 president, a position she held until November 13, 2018.
She said looking back there have been many changes but the thing she has treasured most is the lasting friendships with both members of the committee and Queensland Ambulance Service.
"It has been a privilege to work with such dedicated people,” she said.
Freida will be missed by the whole community.
