Over the past weekend, the Chinchilla Show celebrated its 110th year of showcasing local talent from farmers to horse riders to artists.
Families, friends and travellers gathered at the Chinchilla Showgrounds for two days of fun, indulging in carnival rides, an epic rodeo and market stalls displaying the best of what local businesses have to offer.
We spoke with U Beaut Ute organiser Adam Robertson who has organised the event for four years and has been competing for the past nine years.
“It’s just something to do,” Mr Robertson said.
“I’m born and bred in Chinchilla and this compeition has taken me all through here (southwest QLD) to Toowoomba.”
Fellow U Beaut Ute competitor Darryl has impressively entered the competition for seven years - this year with his ute ‘The Purple Joker.’
“It’s just the environment, catching up with mates you haven’t seen in ages and keeping the ute scene alive,” he said.
From Wandoan originally and now living in Dalby, Darryl said the U Beaut Ute competitions have taken him to compete at the Ekka in Brisbane twice.
