Bushfire warning Darling Downs: Crews battle multiple blazes across region

Firefighters are asking residents in multiple Darling Downs areas to remain on alert, as two bushfires burn through hundreds of hectares of land.

Queensland's Western Downs residents warned of ongoing bushfire emergency

Residents in both the Condamine Farms and Tara areas are being asked to stay alert as bushfires burn through both regions.
More than 24 hours after the Tara fire was reported, a QFES spokeswoman said the bushfire was still burning, after tearing through about 500 hectares of land.

“Crews on the ground are using earth-moving machinery to create firebreaks,” she said.

No homes were lost, however an abandoned shed was gutted.
The spokeswoman said the alert was downgraded, but residents between Myra Road, Tara Kogan Road, Males Drive, and Kofoeds Road, need to stay informed because conditions could change.
QFES crews on Monday afternoon issued a warning for residents in the Condamine Farms area.
The warning also applied to residents of The Pines and Forest Ridge.
A fire is burning near Pine Ridge Road, moving towards Groszmann Road. ‎

Firefighting aircraft are helping ground crews.

On Sunday evening Queensland Fire and Emergency Service told Tara residents to prepare to leave their rural homes as windy conditions fuelled the rapidly moving fire.

In some areas, the height of the flames are hitting the tops of trees.

The alert was issued to properties between Tara Kogan Road and Surat Development Road, at 2.22pm.

A QFES warning was issued at 1.46pm on Sunday, June 24, for properties between Males Drive, Kofoeds Road, and Tara Kogan Road.

The fire was first reported about 12.16pm.

QFES ADVICE:
If you have a bushfire survival plan, follow it now.

- Prepare now so you can leave quickly if the bushfire gets close

- Charge mobile phones and power banks.

- Be ready to take your pets, pet food, pet lead or crate/carrier.

- Pack a bag with a mobile phone charger, enough clothes for five days, important documents (like ID, insurance papers, passports and photos), medicine, cash and keys.

- If you do not drive, call your support service, a family member or a friend to organise transport if you need to leave or want to leave.

- If you find it hard to move quickly, leaving now is your safest option.

- Keep medications close by.

- Move flammable items away from your house if you can.

- Help others if it’s safe to do so.

- Watch out for firefighters working in the area.

- Do not fly drones around the fire. Drones affect air operations.
