The tragic truth about road deaths in Australia

A male in his 60s has died following a single-vehicle crash on Ridge St, Charleville on Friday morning.

The 62-year-old man was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Triton along Elliot St.

Investigations by the Queensland Police Service indicate the vehicle then left the road and struck a fence, before it continued to travel onto Ridge St.

The vehicle stopped when it hit the side of the road.

Paramedics, firefighters and police crews arrived at the crash at about 9am on May 5 and worked to revive the man but he sadly died at the scene.

Charleville Police acting officer-in-charge Andrew Finall confirmed the man was the only occupant of the vehicle.

“We believe he allegedly suffered a heart attack or medical episode before crashing,” Senior Sergeant Finall said.

“His family have been notified.”

Sergeant Finall said an autopsy would be conducted and a report prepared for the coroner to determine the cause of death.

The Forensic Crash Unit will conduct an investigation to confirm the cause of the crash.
