A Central Queensland man who first had his string of charges relating to the exploitation and mistreating of minors, and one count of rape, is due to face court for a third time.

He made his matters mentioned a second time in Emerald Magistrates court on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

The 21 -year-old man first appeared in Emerald Magistrates court in early August, when he appeared charged with one count of indecent treatment of children under 16, two of making child exploitation material, one of possessing child exploitation material, one of possessing child exploitation material-hidden network/anonymising service, and one of rape.

In his second time in the courtroom, the man did not enter a plea, nor were any new charges brought forward by Police Prosecutor Sergeant Rachel Todd.

The man’s Rockhampton-based duty lawyer for Legal Aid, Lachlan Robertson, mentioned that since his matter had originally been heard, the man’s application for legal aid had been successfully approved.

“This matter was previously adjourned so that he could lodge a legal aid application, that’s been done,” Mr Robertson said.

“Legal Aid are requesting some follow-up financial information.

“Some of that request involves my client engaging a tax accountant. That appointment has been made.”

The magistrate agreed that two weeks was sufficient time for the man to get the required paperwork in order.

Magistrate Rosemary Gilbert adjourned the matter for a third time to September of this year.

The man is on bail in the Emerald community.
