Two Central Queensland sisters described as “recidivist public nuisances” have been sentenced over a wild 30-person brawl in the streets of Emerald.

Kadiesha Bryanne Frances Docherty, 24, and Kylia Eyvonne Rose Docherty, 27, both pleaded guilty for their involvement in the shocking moving street brawl on August 7, 2022.

The chaotic Sunday morning scenes in the CBD involved one person allegedly getting into a car and hitting people on the street with the vehicle.

Police Prosecutor Tasman Murphy said two families got into a verbal altercation on the street outside the then-called Irish Village in Egerton Street, after a night of drinking.

By 2pm, police had received 10 separate calls from different witnesses to report yelling and screaming of profanities as the havoc was spread across several blocks containing both businesses and private residences.

Police arrived at the scene to find different pockets of people fighting around the vicinity of the Emerald State School, near School Lane.

The Docherty sisters tried to prevent police from doing their jobs by yelling and swearing at other people and police, and telling the officers to “f--k off”.

The incident was captured on CCTV and body-worn cameras, which identified both of the women.

“Both of (the sisters) have history,” Mr Murphy said.

“Kylia’s history is slightly worse, with several more entries of public nuisance, but both of them, the histories largely indicate, (are of) recidivist public nuisance, effectively” Mr Murphy said.

Defence lawyer Brendan Gimbert told the court that at the time of the incident, which occurred six months before their sentencing, his clients were younger.

Both women are employed and have plans to leave Emerald.

The sisters each pleaded guilty to one count of public nuisance.

They were each fined $600 and banned from all licensed venues on Clermont Street for four months.
