Precautions are being taken in the central west following reports of a flight attendant, infectious with Covid-19, travelling to the region.
It is understood the flight attendant travelled between Longreach and Brisbane on Qantas flights QF 2534 and QF 2535 on Sunday, July 11, while infectious.
Anyone on those flights has been asked to get tested and quarantine at home.
Barcaldine Regional Council Mayor Sean Dillon said the situation was being closely monitored, with further information to be released on Friday.
“Council’s Local Disaster Management Group has met and moved to Lean Forward Status and is closely monitoring the situation,” he said.
“If anyone has any concerns please contact Queensland Health for direct and specific advice.
“If you have any symptoms or are concerned please get tested and stay at home.”
A Covid testing clinic has also been set up at the Longreach Showgrounds, due to open at 9am on Friday, July 23, according to the ABC.
Queensland Health has declined to comment on the situation, with a spokesman saying any updated information would be revealed by chief health officer Jeannette Young, when she gives her morning briefing.
