Man guilty of using metal bar to bludgeon wife to death

A RACEVIEW man had been found guilty of killing his wife of 37 years. Police found the bloodied body of the man's wife in the garage.

A RACEVIEW man had been found guilty of killing his wife of 37 years.

Ian Robert Hunter has been on trial for the past two weeks after pleading not guilty to murdering Vicki Ann Hunter in May 2010.

Police found Mrs Hunter's bloodied body in the garage of the Hunter home on the morning of May 7, 2010.

A metal bar used to bludgeon the 55 year old to death was found nearby.

Hunter was found upstairs in the lounge room with a light pulse and a letter opener protruding from the back of his hand.

After almost two days of deliberations, a jury delivered their guilty verdict this afternoon.

Hunter always maintained an intruder assaulted him before stealing money from his home on the night of his wife's murder.

Hunter was sentenced to life imprisonment.
