Covid testing clinics in Rockhampton and Gladstone: Where they are open and when and how to book an appointment

Covid testing clinics in Rockhampton and Gladstone will be open for longer after an external contractor who worked at Rookwood Weir tested positive to Covid. Here’s all you need to know about where and when to get tested in CQ.

Hours at the CQUniversity Testing Clinic in Rockhampton have been extended after an external contractor who spent three days at Rookwood Weir, west of the city, tested positive to Covid.

The clinic at Building 14 in Berrill Lane will now open from 7.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday this week.

On Monday afternoon, a long line of dozens of vehicles was lined up at the site, with reports of more than three hour wait times for testing.

One man The Morning Bulletin spoke to, from a safe distance, said he had an appointment booked at 12.30pm and was still waiting a fair way down the line at 4pm.

He said he attended a Bronocs match in Brisbane on Friday night, flew home Saturday and had been isolating since the snap lockdown for south-east Queensland came into effect.

The Gladstone Hospital Testing Clinic will also be open longer on Monday, operating until 3pm.

CQUniversity Health Clinic Rockhampton

Open: Monday to Friday, 7.30am-5pm

Location: Building 14, Berrill Lane; access via CQUniversity Norman Road entrance.

Gladstone Hospital

Open: Monday 7am-3pm

Location: Gladstone Hospital (access from Flinders Street).

CQUniversity Gladstone TAFE campus

Open: Tuesday to Friday, 8am-4pm

Location: CQUniversity Gladstone TAFE campus, Derby Street (drive through clinic).

Yeppoon Hospital

Open: Monday to Friday, 8am-11am

Location: Capricorn Coast Hospital, 8 Hoskyn Drive, Yeppoon.

Blackwater Hospital

Open: 2pm-4pm, seven days a week

Location: Blackwater Hospital, 41 Mackenzie Street, Blackwater.

Biloela Hospital

Open: 8.30am-9.30am, seven days a week.

Location: Biloela Hospital, 2 Hospital Road, Biloela.

How to book your test

• Phone the CQ COVID-19 hotline on 1300 274 472 to make an appointment.
• Have your Medicare card ready when you call. You’ll be asked to provide your personal details over the phone.
• Take your mobile phone with you and make sure it’s fully charged. Only take people in your car if they also have an appointment to be tested.
• Arrive five minutes before your appointment.
• You will be tested in your car and provided advice on what to do next, including self-isolation.
