Clermont’s Carolyn Moriarty sworn in as Isaac Regional Council councillor

Carolyn Moriarty wants to help local communities to flourish, while working alongside Council for the overall betterment of the region.

Clermont’s Carolyn Moriarty is ‘honoured’ to officially start representing the region after being sworn in as the appointed Division 6 Isaac Regional Councillor.

Mrs Moriarty read and signed the Declaration of Office in an official ceremony on Wednesday, flanked by family members and friends in front of Mayor Anne Baker, fellow councillors, CEO Jeff Stewart-Harris and senior officers.

“I feel truly honoured to be working with Council to help our communities flourish and future-proof our region by attracting new and diverse industry to the area,” she said.

Mrs Moriarty is a mother, a former teacher and community-minded person, and says she is looking forward to representing the region.

She has a diverse background that includes tourism and education and supports the Clermont community as the secretary of the Clermont Community Business Group and treasurer of the Clermont Bears.

She currently works for a business supporting the mining industry in Clermont and the wider region and has a long establishment with the surrounding communities.

The position for Division 6 was vacated in July following the death of Lynette Jones, a much respected Clermont community member.

Mrs Moriarty was elected after running unopposed in a recent by-election.

Mayor Anne Baker said she was thrilled to have Mrs Moriarty join the team of councillors to work towards the betterment of the region.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cr Moriarty to the position of Division 6 Councillor,” she said.

“It is wonderful to see Cr Moriarty and her family ready to make a commitment to improving the region through her dedication and work in the community.”
