Queensland sees another record rise in COVID cases

Queensland Government data has revealed the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in towns in the Central Highlands and Banana Shire regions.

CQ Health confirmed there were 108 confirmed cases in Central Queensland in the past 24 hours.

Of these, 11 are from Rockhampton, 66 from Gladstone, 13 from Livingstone Shire, two from Central Highlands and 16 Central Queensland residents from elsewhere.

Two people were in hospital as at 8am.

According to data acquired from the Queensland Government, in the Central Highlands there have been 16 confirmed cases in Emerald between December 23, 2021 and January 4, 2021.

The source of the COVID-19 infection is under investigation for 12 of the 16 cases, with the other four cases being declared as locally acquired.

Three of the locally acquired cases were through contact with a confirmed case or a known cluster and the contact has not been identified for the fourth locally acquired case.

There were two confirmed cases in Tieri recorded on December 21 and 24, 2021.

The source of the COVID-19 infection is under investigation for the two cases.

There was one confirmed cases in Woorabinda on December 31, 2021.

The source of the COVID-19 infection is under investigation for that case.

In the Banana Shire there were eight confirmed cases in Biloela between December 31, 2021 and January 1, 2022.

The source of the COVID-19 infection is under investigation for all eight cases.

There have been six confirmed cases in Banana from between December 21, 2021 and January 1, 2022.

The source of the COVID-19 infection is under investigation for two of the six cases, with the other four cases being declared as locally acquired through contact with a confirmed case or a known cluster.

Note: Data is updated weekly and may not include cases for Tuesday or Wednesday.
