JUST in time for the warmer months, stage two of the Claude Wharton Weir recreational area upgrade is now finished and open to the public, with the installation of a boat landing at the site.
North Burnett Regional Council mayor Rachel Chambers said the second stage of the project was funded through Council's 2018-19 capital projects budget for approximately $35,000.
"September 2017 saw the completion of stage one of the Claude Wharton Weir recreational area upgrade, funded through Round One of the State Government's 'Works for Queensland', which included clearing of overgrown vegetation, preparation of a grassed day area and building of a beach front by placement of a retaining wall adjacent to the boat ramp,” Cr Chambers said.
The boat landing will provide a separate, deeper area for boating and skiing enthusiasts to park and launch their boats, and ensure the safety of residents using the beach front area.
