Six students sport their state results

Burnett State College had six students return from Queensland State Athletics in the past two weeks, sporting impressive results.

BURNETT State College had six students return from Queensland State Athletics in the past two weeks, sporting impressive results.

Sports Coordinator Chris Rodwell commended Travis Larner who travelled to Cairns to compete in the 10-12 years competition.

He finished fourteenth in discus and twenty-first in shot put.

Larner was also selected as the boys Captain for Wide bay, giving him the duty of flag bearer during the opening ceremony.

Last week Sarah Duncan, Matthew Zipf, Callum Evans, Chelsey Larner and Elizabeth Strong travelled to Brisbane to complete in the 13-19 years competition held at the Queensland State Athletics Centre.

"As a school, we had some fantastic results,” Mr Rodwell said.

"The school and I would especially like to congratulate Sarah on making two finals of field events, javelin and discus, Elizabeth on also making two finals, shot put and discus, and Callum becoming the third fastest 16-year-old boy in Queensland across eight hundred metres.”

Chelsey Larner:

  • 16th Discus (24.25m)
  • 10th Shot Put (10.46m)
  • 30th 100m (13.99)
  • 4th 13-15years 4 x 100m Relay

Sarah Duncan:

  • 8th Javelin (36.66m)
  • 5th Discus (32.48m)
  • 11th Shot Put (11.47m)

Matthew Zipf:

  • 15th Shot Put (12.22m)
  • 11th Discus (36.47m)
  • 11th Javelin (45.83m)

Elizabeth Strong:

  • 5th Discus (18.80m)
  • 4th Shot Put (8.07m)

Callum Evans:

  • 3rd 800m (1:58.63)
