MUNDUBBERA artist Sue Lederhose is proud that a mural she designed to celebrate a decade of Mundubbera Regional Art Gallery, also celebrates the diversity of the people that make up the community and their nationalities.
A selection of flags from around the world have been added to the 24-metre mural by local Phil Robinson to represent the different people who make Mundubbera their home.
"As well as the many itinerant workers who pass through on a seasonal basis,” Ms Lederhose said.
"We welcome them and value their contribution to our town.”
"The flags are also a marvellous way for us to increase our general knowledge of the world around us.”
Painted on the side of Mundubbera Library, the mural features a parade of life-size silhouettes that move with the viewer as they are lead towards the art gallery entrance.
"The variety of figures have been kept black so that they can represent any culture,” Ms Lederhose said.
"Each group tells a story so have fun and use your imagination to tell us what you think is happening.
"The people are walking which also relates to the meaning of the word Mundubbera - footsteps in the trees.”
Eight circles at the top of the mural will be painted some of the artists who have previously exhibited in the gallery.
"Each work will be of their own choosing and style,” Ms Lederhose said.
"This will further represent the many different genres of art that this town has welcomed.”
