Monto, Mundubbera schools top region NAPLAN improvement results

The biggest NAPLAN improvers for schools in the North Burnett region have been revealed along with the schools which have gone backwards.
St Therese’s Catholic Primary School in Monto recorded the biggest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results increasing by 8.27 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.
A spokesperson for the Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton said the results were a great reflection of the dedication of staff in the past five years.
“Our school community can be very proud of this improvement,” they said.
“It reflects committed effort from staff, students and our families.
“We are a learning community, and we are consistently growing in our understanding of the instructional approaches that best support student learning.”
Mount Perry State School in Mount Perry was the second best with an increase of 6.2 per cent followed by Mundubbera State School with an increase of 3.68 per cent.
Meanwhile, Mundubbera State School in Mundubbera recorded the biggest improvement for a secondary school with average year 9 NAPLAN results increasing by 0.07 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.
Mundubbera State College principal Peter Townsend said he was proud of the work from students and staff to get these results.
“We are all very proud of the work that is done everyday to support all students learning at Mundubbera State College,” Mr Townsend said.
“We work to ensure that all students are catered for as we deliver the Australian Curriculum, based on our students’ individual performance.”
Monto State High School at Moto was the second best with a -1.86 per cent change.
The analysis compared the five year change in NAPLAN results from 2017 and 2021 and revealed the schools which have improved their Year 5 and Year 9 student scores the most.
It was calculated by each school’s combined results for each NAPLAN subject in 2017 and compared to the same results in 2021.
Meanwhile, Eidsvold State School in Eidsvold recorded the lowest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results returning a result of -9.49 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.
While, Burnett State College in Gayndah recorded the lowest improvement for a secondary school returning a result of -2.21 per cent over the past five years.
