KIM McLennan’s customers “mean the world” to her.
It seems the Biggenden Hardware and Rural Supplies employee’s customers also think highly of her as she was voted the best customer service person in the North Burnett.
Mrs McLennan said it was an honour to be recognised.
“I’m very grateful and humbled they’d think of me, this smile isn’t going anywhere,” she said.
“Without my customers, I wouldn’t have a job so I’m very grateful and honoured.”
She has been working at her family business since 2012 when her parents took over the business.
Mrs McLennan is often seen running the business shop front and making orders for customers.
“Half the reason I’m here is my customers, they mean the world to me,” she said.
“I like to be out the front as I like to be one-on-one with my customers.”
She enjoys working in a small team with her mum and another worker.
“It’s absolutely brilliant to have a family run business,” Mrs McLennan said.
“Knowing it’s a small, family run business, people support us in the small town.”
She reckons the key to good customer service is going the “extra mile”.
“Just having the time of day to talk to customers about how their day has been and taking an interest in them, a lot of my customers I know personally," Mrs McLennan said.
The business offers a wide range, being a rural and hardware store as well as stock feed.
“If customers don’t have cars, we will deliver to their houses,” she said.
“If you don’t have happy customers in a small town you don’t have a small business.”
Since they also stock feed and products for animals, Mrs McLennan is often opening up after hours to ensure customers can get what they need for their sick animals in emergencies.
Mrs McLennan thanked her regular customers for their support.
“Without customers supporting us, I wouldn’t have a job. I love coming to work,” she said.
