A NEW committee has added a refreshing touch to The Den arts and craft shop at Biggenden.

Situated opposite Beiers Park, the shop operated wholly by volunteers is now open seven day a week from 9am to 2pm.

Committee member Glen Toovey said there had been had a general tidy up and revamp which had led to the stock being more presentable.

The Den is always looking for new suppliers of anything handcrafted or homemade as well as additional volunteers.

The group would encourage local residents to call in for a chat and a cuppa to see what the Den has to offer.

"The travelling public and grey nomads form a large part of our clientele but we hope to engage with more of the local community as well,” he said.

The Den has a diverse array of items from jewellery through to hand made cards, jams, honey and preserves to concrete garden ornaments, plants, crochet and even dolls clothes. If you make craft or homemade items the volunteers at The Den will happily help you try to sell them.

New stall holders are welcome for the sidewalk markets held on the third Saturday of the month.

Mr Toovey said in the past year, the group had made donations to Careflight Helicopters which benefits everyone in Biggenden and to the Biggenden Droughtbusters.

Although not a registered information centre, the Den does have available brochures covering all of the North Burnett.

Treasurer Mark Copeland said they were a non-profit organisation with the goal to sell enough of their vendors products for commissions to cover running costs to allow the group to continue to remain open.

The committee now includes president Jane Thorrold, vice presidents, Deb Oakes and Jen Little, secretary Wendy Smith, treasurer Mark Copeland and chamber rep Glen Toovey.
