NORTH Burnett Regional Council issued a public notice on Tuesday reminding residents about kerbside collection requirements.

The notice urged residents to ensure their bins are out for collection before 6am on their allocated collection day as bins are usually collected between 6am and 6pm.

Periodically the garbage contractor may alter the time of collection within that bandwidth as hey try to improve efficiency.

To ensure their bin is collected on the allocated day residents need to place the bin adjacent to, and within one metre of, the kerb.

The bin must be facing the road and not overfilled, with the lid closed.

Council also reminded residents that a number of items are not allowed in a wheelie bin.

These included builder's rubble, bricks, concrete, hot ashes, paint, chemicals, car batteries or oils, and vacuum dust, kitty litter or grass clippings that aren't contained.

The bin must also not exceed 80kg as the truck is unable to pick up bins heavier than this.

If a bin is not collected at it's usual time residents should leave it until 6pm as there may be a delay.

Residents are able to report bin collection issues direct to the JJ Richards & Sons garbage collection hotline on 1300 654 659.
