Todd Graeme Olive was convicted of trafficking and possessing drugs, after spending 302 days in pre-sentence custody.

The court heard in 2020 police searched Olive’s home where they found more than 40 grams of methamphetamines and $24,420 in cash, along with an electronic money counter, scales, syringes and several zip-lock bags with the drug inside.

Justice Graeme Crow considered Olive’s “street dealing” and said Olive had obtained a “significant amount of money, but no significant assets” during the four month period he was accused of dealing in 2020.

The court heard Olive serviced 25 repeat customers almost daily with the “occasional” wholesale deal being made.

Justice Crow spoke on Olive’s trafficking outlining the “significant turnover” which came from more than 7o online “suspicious” banking transactions equating to $15,770.

The court heard a relationship breakdown had contributed to Olive’s drug offences and personal drug reliance, which left him the sole parent to his two children.

“Drug use is not the answer for anyone’s problems, and they should receive help from professional instead of proliferating misery on others.”

Mr Cassidy shared a personal history for Olive which included “significant” violence at the hands of his alcoholic father, sexual abuse and a history of untreated autism.

Olive came before the court with five pages of criminal history which began when he turned 17 and spanned two states.

A history of assault occasioning bodily harm, domestic violence, stalking, weapons offence, breaches of bail and possession of suspected stolen property were all considered by Justice Crow.

Olive was sentenced to four years jail with the possibility of parole in 16 months for trafficking, and convicted and not further punished for possession.
