Theodoross Anthony Peters in court for drink driving

An aged care worker was forcibly removed from his car and handcuffed after causing a disturbance at a Bundaberg skatepark.

Peters told police that he had been sitting in the carpark offering the skaters advice on how they could improve.

An aged care worker drove while more than twice the legal alcohol limit and needed to be forcibly removed from his vehicle and handcuffed, a court heard.

Theodoross Anthony Peters pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday, May 12 to charges of driving when over the middle alcohol limit and obstructing police.

The court heard that police were called to a Bundaberg skatepark in response to reports of a man creating a disturbance.

On arrival, police found Peters sitting in his vehicle near the skatepark.

Peters told police that he had been sitting in the car park offering the skaters advice on how they could improve.

Witnesses at the scene informed police that Peters had been argumentative and had asked the skaters for cigarettes.

When questioned by police, Peters said he had just been sitting in the carpark and had been offering the skaters advice on how they could improve.

After returning a blood alcohol reading of 0.131 Peters refused to comply with police directions to exit his vehicle, following which police forcibly removed Peters from the vehicle and handcuffed him.

Representing himself, Peters told the court that on the day of the offences he was drinking on his day off from his job as an aged care worker and had “gone off the rails” due to having broken up with his girlfriend.

Peters was convicted of one charge of being in charge of a motor vehicle when over the middle alcohol limit, and one charge of obstructing police.

Magistrate Athol Kennedy disqualified Peters from driving for three months.
