Theatre, basketball, music and more: Plenty to keep Bundy locals entertained this month

Whether you’re a sports fan, love the theatre or local art, there’s a wide variety of events pegged for Bundaberg this month.

While the Covid-19 outbreak in the state’s southeast has seen many events cancelled recently, Bundaberg still has several events set to go ahead at this stage.

From local sporting action, theatre and festivals, here’s a list of six events set to go ahead this month.

It should be noted that the Covid-19 situation is constantly changing, please check with the respective events that it is going ahead before attending.

Bundaberg Basketball CQBL home games

Bundaberg Bears and Bulls are competing in the 2021 CQBL competition with two home games scheduled for this month before the finals.

On August 14, the Bulls and Bears will taken on Hervey Bay at the Autobarn Arena, before the matches against Maryborough on August 21.

Doors Open at 4.30pm, the Bundy Bears take the court at 5pm and the Bundy Bulls play at 7pm.

Adults entry fees are $5, pensioners and high school tickets are $2.

The stadium is at 3 Flint Street.

Film Fundraiser

Carinbundi Foundation is presenting a film fundraiser at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre with Best Summer Ever.

The fundraiser will be held on August 18 from 6pm.

‘Children of the Black Skirt’ show

The Playhouse Theatre Bundaberg’s latest production will hit the local stage from August 20 with five performances.

The local playhouse is taking on Children of the Black Skirt by Angela Betzien.

The showtimes are August 20, 21, 27 and 28 at 7.30pm, with the matinee on Sunday August 22 at 3pm.

Tickets for adults are $22 and $19 for concession/student tickets and groups 10-plus.

8 Ball Aitken set to return

The Old Bundy Tavern will be abuzz with the blues on August 20 with 8 Ball Aitken set to take the stage.

But beforehand, he’ll also be doing a blues guitar workshop on August 19.

Moore Park Beach Arts Festival 2021

With myriad workshops, displays, performances and stalls to set up in Moore Park Beach there’s bound to be something for the whole family to enjoy at this year’s Moore Park Beach Arts Festival.

Held on August 21, this event will run from 10am – 7pm, with fireworks to see out the day’s festivities.

Oceanfest Bundaberg

The popular nautical themed, Oceanfest Bundaberg is expected to return to the Bundaberg Port Marina Precinct on August 28, after being cancelled last year.

The Rotary Club of Bundaberg Sunrise event highlights the local seafood industry, tourism industry and the Bundaberg North Burnett area.

There will be live music, market stalls, and of course plenty of seafood for everyone to enjoy.
