Steve Loveland identified as victim of fatal Bruce Highway crash

The motorcyclist who died as a result of critical injuries he sustained in a crash with a truck on the Bruce Highway between Gympie and Maryborough on July 16 has been identified.

The motorcyclist who died as a result of critical injuries he sustained in a crash with a truck on the Bruce Highway at Tiaro on July 16 has been identified as 57-year-old Goodwood man, Steve Loveland.

Mr Loveland, a technician, died on the night of July 16, after his motorcycle and a truck became involved in an accident while travelling north on the highway south of Maryborough.

Despite frantic efforts by emergency services to revive Mr Loveland, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Loveland was a motorbike enthusiast and a member of Defence Riders and the Gregory River Rural Fire Brigade.

He was reportedly riding his motorbike home from the airport on the evening of Tuesday, July 16, when the accident occurred about 7.30pm.

Fellow riding enthusiast Paul Brealy posted this to Facebook:

“For our Defence Riders, I’ve just been advised that one of ours Steve Loveland has passed away possibly killed on his bike. Rest in Peace old mate.”
