Steve Cooper seeks re-election for Division 8 seat of Bundaberg council

Incumbent Bundaberg councillor Steve Cooper will run for re-election to Division 8 of the Bundaberg council at the upcoming local government elections.

Former hardware store owner and incumbent Bundaberg councillor Steve Cooper will run for re-election to Division 8 of the Bundaberg Regional Council on March 16.

Mr Cooper said his track record as a successful business owner and time spent as the national and state chair of the Home Hardware group supported his candidacy.

“With a proven record of accomplishments, a deep commitment to community wellbeing, and a wealth of experience in business and public service, I am confident in my ability to make a lasting and positive impact on the Bundaberg community,” he said.

Mr Cooper has a respected history with local community groups and organisations, including Rotary for which he was awarded the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

His work supporting the Bundaberg region extends to his role as board member for Bundaberg Tourism, a position Mr Cooper says supports the “betterment of our community in multiple ways”.

Speaking on his six-year tenure with the council, Mr Cooper said he had worked towards a number of successful outcomes for his division.

“Throughout my tenure in the council, I have achieved significant milestones, including the successful implementation of low rates and fees and the promotion of robust economic growth,” he said.

“I have also played an active role in driving infrastructure improvements and major projects that enhance our local environment and provide exceptional recreational facilities for all.”

The candidate said he had one clear goal for a successful election.

“With a clear mission to foster the growth and prosperity of Division 8 and the Bundaberg Region, I will leverage my extensive experience and unwavering commitment to community service to achieve our collective goals,” he said.
