SINCE Kijah Stephenson was five years old she has loved playing football and thanks to the majority of the games she played being against her two older brothers she built the skills to the level required to be picked in the Queensland schoolgirl's team.

Kijah was part of the Wide Bay squad that travelled to Mt Isa for the state titles and with teammate Meghan Newman from South Burnett, will be one of the 14 girls to wear the maroon jersey for the first time in Bendigo in September.

The year seven Norville student shyly said she might be a better player than her two brothers Kain and Trey and added playing for Queensland will be great but there was one ultimate goal she wanted to achieve.

"I like playing football because it's fun and I'm good at it," Kijah said.

"And I'd love to play for the Matildas one day."

Kijah started playing football for Diggers before switching to Brothers Aston Villa where she plays in the midfield, her adaptability was on display when she starred up front for Wide Bay and she was looking forward to more games at striker.

Kijah is looking for sponsorship to help with the cost of attending the national championships and if you can help please email your details to frogga04@hotmail.com.
