Brillante's back to where it all began

FOOTBALL: For Bundaberg's Josh Brillante there is nothing like being back at home.

The Sydney FC midfielder is back in the Rum City after his most successful season as a professional athlete after Sydney FC won the A-League championship and premiership.

And on Thursday night he returned to where it all began at The Waves Football Club.

The 23-year-old was there to teach the next generation of budding Brillantes all about the game.

He was also there to help deliver the $1500 he won as part of being the NAB Young Footballer of the Month in November last year.

The club received a cheque for $1000 plus balls, goal nets and bibs for the juniors at the club.

"This is the second time actually, when he was with Newcastle he won an A-League player of the month and we got the $1500 worth of stuff back then,” The Waves oresident Mick McLachlan said.

"We spend a veritable fortune on training aids so everything that can come in means we can then put money that is hard raised through raffles and bingo back more into our juniors.”

NAB business banking executive for Bundaberg and Fraser Coast Mungo O'Brien said it was good to see grassroots football sponsored through its initiative.

Brillante said it was always good to help the club on and off the field.

"It's always great to come back and join in and help,” he said.
