Senior constable to appear at Bundaberg Magistrates Court

A senior constable has been stood down and will appear at the Bundaberg Magistrates Court in May following an alleged Weapons Act offence.

A senior police constable has been stood down from duty and will soon face court following an alleged weapons offence.

The 51-year-old constable from the North Coast region will appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on May 16.

According to a press release from Queensland Police he will face court for an alleged Weapons Act offence.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct,” a spokesman said.

It is reported the officer has been stood down from duty.

Police media were unable to confirm which station the senior constable has been stood down from.

The matter is reportedly unrelated to the accidental discharge of a firearm at the Childers Station which occurred on Thursday April 27.

It is unclear at this time if the matter relates to an ongoing investigation into the Bundaberg Police Station. .
