School captains for 2025 revealed for the Bundaberg region
Most of the Bundaberg region’s school captains and leaders have been announced for 2025, as those selected for the roles share their goals and perspectives. See the full list, photos:

The end of the 2024 school year marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the 2025 seniors across the Bundaberg region.
The school captains for the upcoming year have been revealed at some schools, with a number of them sharing their aspirations for their new roles and how they plan to shake things up in 2025.

Kepnock State High School
Kepnock State High students Grace Garrett, Sai Dettl, Samuel Connor and Katie Jones have been announced the school captains for 2025.
Sam joined the school later than the other candidates, and said the honour filled him with pride.
Grace said she was excited “ to bring a more enjoyable and fun culture/experience within the school grounds” while Katie and Sai both said they hoped to build a strong school legacy for the generations to come.
Bundaberg Special School
Four students have been named as school captains at Bundaberg Special School for next year, each of them sharing their perspective on what it meant to be a school leader.
Zac said he was looking forward to helping his friends within the school community while vice captain Charlotte highlighted the safety she felt in going to Bundaberg Special School.
Shalom Catholic College
Ava M, Joann J, Landa A and George S (sic) were named as the school leaders for Shalom Catholic College in 2025.
Joann and Landa will serve as captains with Ava and George supporting the student body as vice captains.
St Luke’s Anglican School
At St Luke’s, there are a range of formal leadership roles for students to represent the college.
These range from school captains, house captains, sport and cultural captains, to service captain, academic captain, and chapel captain.
For 2025, Angus H and Alexandria K have been announced school captain’s for St Luke’s Anglican College.
The pair shook hands with principal Matthew Hughes when accepting the roles at the end of the 2024 school year.
After accepting the position, Angus commented that the favourite thing about attending St Luke’s was “the camaraderie among the year levels, and the relationships that students are able to have with the teachers, which create an incredibly fostering environment”.
Gin Gin State High School
A number of students will bear the honour of school captain in 2025, with house captains, junior school captains, senior school captains and Student Council presidents all named in the leadership team.
Lawson Cook and David Flinn were announced as the 2025 school captains with Ivy Suendermann serving as Student Council president.
The title of house Corang captain was awarded to Nickolas Gannon, Riley Bechly is Baranga house captain, and Manumbar house captain was awarded to Gabriela Miller.
Gin Gin State High School also names leaders responsible for liaising with the younger grades.
These positions have been awarded to Jayda Cleary for Year 7, Jade Kitt for Year 8, Ella Grabbe Year 9 with Tallis Shiel acting as Year 10 liaison leader.
Bundaberg Christian College
Erin Bowie and Jerome Jose will take on the captaincy roles for Bundaberg Christian College in 2025.
They are joined by vice school captains Amal Joseph Shijo and Katie Lambert.
The school captains each shared their own perspective on being named leaders for 2025.
Erin hoped “to empower and inspire students to achieve their potential” beyond academic pursuits, while Jerome Jose said “being a school captain is not something I had ever dreamed would happen—but I am looking forward to making 2025 a memorable year for my school”.
“Being together not only strengthens our grade but shows younger students how enjoyable school life can be with your friends,” he said.
Bundaberg State High School and Bundaberg North State High School were unable to respond by deadline.
