Bundaberg‘s Sanity music shop will follow in the footsteps of the region’s former video stores as it closes its doors due to a lack of physical business.
The city once had two Sanity stores, but in recent years only the Hinkler Central store has remained.
Sanity will continue trading online.

Ray Itaoui, who purchased the Sanity company 13 years ago, said consumers had changed how they accessed music.
“With our customers shifting to digital for their visual and music content consumption, and with diminishing physical content available to sell to our customer, it has made it impossible to continue with our physical stores,” Ray Itaoui, who purchased the company 13 years ago, said in a statement.
“Our online business – sanity.com.au – will continue to operate, and will service the many loyal customers the brand has continued to be dedicated to over the decades.
“Our priority right now is to ensure each of our team members knows exactly what this means for their career and employment future.”
Bundaberg, like all places, has seen its fair share of closures as shoppers turned to digital formats.
Video giant Blockbuster closed its doors in 2017, with independent video store holding the fort a little longer before it also closed.
Hinkler Central has been contacted for comment.
Sanity‘s 50 Australian stores are set to all be closed by April.
