ROOM Motels lodge development approval with Bundaberg council

A regional accommodation chain drawing inspiration from “the latest European designs” is set to rival longstanding local motels with plans for a brand new development in Bundaberg.

An accommodation chain known for rooms featuring “concepts and fittings found in the latest European designs” has lodged a development application with Bundaberg Regional Council.

Rockhampton-based developer DesignTek, on behalf of Super TurnKey Pty Ltd, has lodged a development application to build a ROOM Motel minutes from the Bundaberg CBD featuring “a high standard of architecture that contributes to creating an attractive and functional building and streetscape”.

The development is earmarked for a vacant lot at 55 Takalvan Street, Millbank, in between the Woolworths Caltex and Hungry Jacks.

The proposed “four-star” two-storey development would include eight ground-floor units and 25 first-floor units with an accompanying 33 car park spaces.

According to an online real estate website, the lot is a 1966m2 freehold development site selling for $650,000 + GST.

ROOM Motels describes the accommodation on its website as offering “regional travellers a level of quality and comfort not traditionally found outside major cities” and says “all rooms feature double glazed windows, whisper quiet air conditioning, and latex beds, ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep.”

The regional accommodation chain has already made its mark in Gympie, Gatton and Kingaroy, with an average nightly stay price of $122.

The development application will be considered by Bundaberg Regional Council.
