Australian cricket legend Rod Marsh has died following a shock heart attack he suffered while in Bundaberg last week.
The news of Mr Marsh’s death was announced shortly before 9am Friday.
The 74-year-old suffered the attack after touching down in Bundaberg just after 10am the Thursday morning he arrived in the rum city.
He was being driven to his accommodation when the medical incident occurred.
The legendary wicket-keeper was in town for a number of engagements on the annual Bulls Masters tour of Bundaberg.
He was flown to South Australia in an induced coma in a “critical but stable” condition to be closer to his family this week.
His son Paul, the former chief executive of the Australian Cricketer’s Association had said in a statement on February 27 his father was “currently in the fight of his life” and the family was “unlikely to have any certainty for some time”.
“We know there is a lot of interest in dad’s condition and our family has been overwhelmed by the messages of love and support from all around the world,” Paul Marsh said.
“We have listened to and read every one of them and are incredibly grateful.”

“The thoughts of everyone involved within cricket are with the family and many friends of Rod Marsh who is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a heart attack this morning,” the statement read.
“Rod is an influential figure in Australian cricket and has been so for more than 50 years.
“He was in Bundaberg as part of the Queensland Bulls Masters event and is currently surrounded by some of his former teammates.
