An application has been put forward to convert three significant Bucca properties into a renewable energy facility, including a recently acquired a 110ha estate worth more than $3 million.

Trifecta Estate Pty Ltd, in partnership with Victorian company, European Energy Australia Pty Ltd, has submitted a development application to the Bundaberg Regional Council for a material change of use at three Bucca properties.

The application spans land at 143 Gastons Rd, Goondoon Road (lot 2) and an unnamed road at No 4514 (lot 73).

The application is under review, with a decision pending.

The property at 143 Gastons Rd, which property records show was recently sold to Trifecta Estate in May for $3.1m, spans about 110ha and includes a substantial 162ML dam.

Used for cattle breeding and fattening, the land is proposed to be repurposed for a renewable energy development under the application.

EE Australia, directed by Denmark-based Knud Erik Andersen, is known for its substantial investments in renewable energy, specifically solar farms.

The company’s ongoing projects include the Upper Calliope solar farm, a 1.3GW facility set to power the Gladstone region; the Sawpit solar farm near Biloela, which will deliver approximately 1GW; and the Leichhardt solar farm, a 500MW project southwest of Biloela.

This development application is not the only one pitched for the Wide Bay region, with the Forest Wind wind farm project also planned.

The $2b project is planned to be built in the Tuan Forest, which stretches from Wallu, 40km northeast of Gympie, to the southeastern outskirts of Maryborough.
