The Yandaran Hotel, or the “Yannie” as the locals call it, at 23 Main St in Yandaran, just north of Bundaberg, has hit the market for $650,000.
Abbie Grayson and Collin Ahern purchased and re-opened the historic country hotel, which served its first beer in 1900, two days before Covid lockdowns began in March 2020.
Ms Grayson, who was raised in and around pubs while growing up in England, said the Yarrie had come along in leaps and bounds over the past two years.
“Collin and I saw this pub as a perfect opportunity to get into something that is uniquely located, being close to the ocean with Miara nearby as well as having that country aspect,” Ms Grayson said.
“It was tough during Covid, with many people thinking and arguing ‘it‘s a country pub, no covid here’, that’s because we had strict cleaning schedules and enforced the mandates.
“We have expanded our operations from five days to seven, and get inundated every weekend with caravan enthusiasts, which is great.
“We have hosted weddings, birthdays, funerals and even a ‘Car and Bike Show n Shine’, our kitchen gets very busy and according to travellers we have a 5-star rating on ‘Wiki Camps Australia’ for our food. “
The hotel rooms, kitchen and pub have been fully renovated since the couple took ownership.
Ms Grayson said due to an unexpected health issue, it was unfortunately time to move on earlier than she anticipated.
“We will dearly miss our Yannie and the beautiful people that we have met on our journey,” she said.
“We have loved meeting new people every day and also meeting new but lifelong friends.
“We are selling the pub privately for now,” she said.
The Yandarah Hotel is 30 minutes from Bundaberg and the price is negotiable.
