ABBIE Grayson and Coll Ahern are overwhelmed at the warm response they have received since arriving in Biggenden.

They are ready to immerse themselves in the community as they re-open the Commercial Hotel this Saturday.

Ms Grayson said our plans were to sneak in, get it ready and just open the doors.

“We are very excited,” she said

“Biggenden is such a lovely town.”

She said where they came from in the Ipswich area they were 20 minutes to the closest shops.

The couple are now ready to celebrate the tree change and the start of their new lives.

Ms Grayson said they would be opening at 10am, while celebrations would start at 6pm with complimentary finger food and music.

“There is plenty of music as we’ve just put 4000 songs into the jukebox,” she said.

Ms Grayson, who was born into pubs as her parents had several in England,

came to Australia for three months, 30 years ago.

Mr Ahern has worked in a steel mill for the past 12 years.

There are lots of future plans with family fun days, live music, sporting and camping events.

The fully licensed kitchen won’t be open for a week or two.

Ms Grayson said when it does, they will be serving home cooked country food with generous portions, great prices and daily specials.

We are revamping the eating area,” she said.

“It will be amazing.”

She said in the long run they would like to cater for everyone’s needs.

“Just call in come and say hello,” she said.

“For any bookings phone 0423 150 850.”

Helping the couple out with opening preparations is Abbie’s friend Michelle Rawls originally for the US.

Ms Grayson said the motel rooms have been renovated and fully booked.

Patrons will be pleased to head the drive through bottle shop is opening Saturday also.
